Maintaining the Kamado is very easy. The Kamado is a highly durable barbecue and can be used for a lifetime if it is regularly maintained.
Ash collection
When the barbecue is cold, you should remove the ashes using a scraper or ash puller. You can easily take them out of the Forest through the opening located at the bottom of it.
To have fewer ashes, it is recommended to use good quality charcoal, which burns much more slowly than poor quality charcoal.
The gasket of the kamado
The Forest kamado is fitted with a highly durable felt gasket that should be replaced according to your frequency of use, every 5 to 10 years, to ensure proper sealing.
You can check each year that it is still in place.
The kamado grill grate
The stainless steel grill of the Forest is very thick and can be easily cleaned after each use.
To clean it, you can scrub the hot grill with a wire brush or you can also leave the grill in your kamado on the pyrolysis setting.
Finally, you can also clean the grill when cold using our special stainless steel grill cleaner.
The exterior of the kamado
The exterior ceramic of the Forest is very easy to clean. We recommend cleaning it with water and soap.
If you wish to reduce the appearance of hairline cracks in the ceramic, you can also apply oil to the exterior of the Forest.
To protect the kamado from the elements, it is advisable to cover it with a protective cover.
The interior of the kamado
The interior darkens over time with repeated cooking. Therefore, you should not try to restore it to its original white appearance.
Occasionally, you can gently scrub the inside of the Forest with a wire brush to restore its shine.
Tightening the screws of the kamado
The hinge at the back of the Forest and the band are fastened with screws.
Over time, the screws may loosen. You should check their tightness once a year.
Lubrication of the kamado hinge
The hinge of the Forest works hard over the course of many barbecues. It is recommended to grease it with a lubricating product once a year.
The thermometer of the kamado
The kamado thermometer is set before delivery. If, over the years, the thermometer no longer seems to indicate the correct temperature, you should check its calibration by immersing it in boiling water and aligning it with 100°C.
